“Do Not Fear Them”
Matthew 10:5-42
Cliff Blair
Matthew 10:5-42 underscores that disciples, like their teacher, will face rejection and persecution, a pattern confirmed throughout Church history. Jesus prepares his followers by proclaiming that the Gospel will invite hostility just as he himself endured. He calls us to not fear men who can only harm the body and to instead direct our reverence to God, who holds both body and soul in his hands. The fear of God frees believers from the snares of seeking human approval or succumbing to worldly intimidation and should embolden them to speak truth with love.
